Wednesday Recap

Last night was a great night. Here are my thoughts.

  • Last night was the first time I “talked” to the students in three weeks. I really was excited about “talking” again.
  • God woke me up last week and gave me last night’s message. I really felt like he worked it all out.
  • I used cups overflowing into other cups to talk about our lives overflowing into lives around - discipleship.
  • Tyler helped me with the illustration one night two years ago.
  • One day - if i do this message again. This is what I want my illustration to look like.
  • Kent led worship for us. He did a really good job.
  • David Cook won American Idol.
  • I wasn’t as excited as I thought I was going to be.
  • I had prepared myself for being upset. I had prepared myself to complain. I was ready to talk about how it wasn’t fair. And then he won. I don’t know. What does that say about me?
  • Laura Beth figured out why David Cook won. All of David Archuleta’s fans have a 10:00 bedtime. David Cook’s fans can stay up and vote until the poll’s close.

Last night went really well. Thank you God. I can’t take credit. God did it. If it weren’t for God - it would have completely sucked.

Stupid…

I am having trouble with my Gmail today.  I can’t access the standard view.  I can still check my email - but when I try to load the standard (and cool) view I get a loading screen.  I have to use the not so sleek, not so cool, super boring basic view.  I hate it.

Insomniac

I know that I have said on here before that I haven’t slept well. But here are my symptoms: it takes me a long time to fall asleep at night. I toss and turn. I wake up frequently, but I get back to sleep rather easily. It is very hard for me to wake up in the mornings.

I don’t want to be a hypochondriac - but that looks like insomnia to me. What do you think?

LINC/Random

Here are some quick hits about LINC and my random head.

  • I really have a lot of fun on Wednesday nights.
  • I didn’t lose any head to head Guitar Hero match-ups.
  • Ben, Laura Beth, Greg, and Emily do the music for us.  They really do get better and better every week.
  • I am 98% sure that we had 28 students last night.
  • I forgot to take chairs back over to Patat.  So every chair had a butt in it.  That was good.
  • I talked about Ezekiel 37.  The Word of God brings life.
  • Honestly - I felt like things went well.
  • Finally, Kristy Lee Cook got voted off of American Idol.  She really shouldn’t have made it past the first week.  (her eyes freak me out)
  • My back is killing me.
  • I didn’t sleep on it wrong because it hurt before I went to bed.

God is powerful.  God is faithful.  God gives life.  I am praying that God will bring salvation.  Last night - no one raised their hand to accept Jesus.  But I know that the power of Jesus Christ was at work.  God makes the seed grow.  I think I need a massage.

Pirate Blog

I had to commandeered Cliff’s laptop for the lunch hour.  I am blogging simply for a sense of normalcy.  Since losing my computer to a failed hard drive - I am lost.  I don’t know what I am doing.  I can’t look up random facts or find hilarious videos.  I am pretty pathetic, aren’t I?

I had a friend tell me one day about a trip to Chick-fil-a.  He said that an old woman stopped him and asked “You know why the chicken is so good here?”  My friend replied - “I think it has something to do with the fact that they cook it in peanut oil.”  The old woman simply shook her head and said - “No, young man.  It is because they use Christian chicken.”

Oh.

Tragic

My hard drive died.  I am writing this from the computers at the library.  Sad times.  I will keep you posted on funeral times and what not.

Let’s be Honest

I know a lot of people have bought into the new phenomenon that is Twitter.  I admit.  I tried it.  I had to figure out what all the buzz was about.  So I signed up.

Who remembers AOL Instant Messenger?  When it began - people used to chat with other folks over the internet.  Over time - AIM turned into a tool to inform people of what you were doing.  Everyone would sign on and immediately put up an “away message.”  This basically was a message that popped up when people would send you an IM.  AIM, for many people, turned into impulsively checking and reading away messages.  No one sent messages anymore - they merely read the away messages.

That is what Twitter is to me.  It is merely a graduated away message publisher.  Should you Twitter?  No.  Like reading this blog - it serves as one more thing that you waste your time doing.

Lunch, Skittles, and Scattegories

I got to eat lunch with Cliff’s family today… without Cliff. Apparently it is the cool thing for church planters to get together and go to the beach. So I guess I am officially in charge around here (that is… when Donny isn’t around and Robin is out of the office).

I realized today that Tropical Skittles are the worst ever. Sorry. If you like them - then you like the worst kind of Skittles. Also - I am adding cucumber to my least favorite food list. Pineapple, coconut, cucumber, and Tropical Skittles (except the yellow ones) are all officially gross.

One last thing - I played an amazing game of Scattegories last night. I would have won - had there been any sense of fairness in the game. OK my question is this - in the category “Cosmetics/Toiletries” should curling iron count? Think long and hard about what cosmetics and toiletries are.
